Electrochemical COD Analyzer
When electrochemically-active bacteria oxidize organic matter, they produce electrons. These electrons are transferred to electrodes and produce an electrical current. However, when wastewater containing toxic chemicals is introduced, it reduces the activity of electrochemically-active bacteria and interferes with the normal electron transfer system of the device. This interference will dramatically change the electrical current value. This changed electrical current, expressed as a BOD value, can measure toxicity.
